Black History Week

October marks Black History Month and during the week beginning 16th October The Blue School will be celebrating this special event.

Also on this week is Diwali which is celebrated on the 19th October. We are incredibly lucky to be welcoming parents within our community who have volunteered to come and give talks and run workshops throughout the day.

We have African drumming workshops for Year 5 &6, African Dance workshops for Reception to Year 2 and the Big Foot Theatre Company will be holding a whole school assembly and workshops for Year 3 & 4.

Furthermore, we are extremely lucky to welcome guest speaker, Alan Watkinson, the man who founded and trained Mo Farah, also winner of the Teacher of the Year in the Pride of Britain Awards. For those of you who aren't aware, Mo Farah (the UK's finest ever distance runner) went to school and trained at Isleworth & Syon Boys School and is the reason for our fantastic gold postbox near Isleworth mainline station. His trainer, Alan will be giving a motivational talk to KS2 about Mo Farah's journey from humble beginnings, as well as promoting sport within our school. He will also be holding a Q&A with questions prepared from children in KS2.
